A WAVE OF CHANGE

Bet you didn't know that plastic straws are too small to be recycled.

Bet you didn't know that by 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by weight.

To raise awareness in bars and bodegas around NYC, we created a poster campaign to hang in these locations to encourage it's patrons to curb the use of plastic straws. Leading up to a referendum vote, this campaign was all in an effort to force businesses not to include plastic straws in their drink unless asked to.

The challenge was that New Yorkers are busy and inundated with messages telling them what to do every day. Many of these messages speak to environmental awareness: save the planet, reduce waste, reduce the human footprint. We needed to set our messaging apart by making it uniquely relevant to New Yorkers’ daily routines and lifestyles. We needed to empower them to take action rather than make them feel like we were taking something away.
